Youth - Bowler of the Year Information (YBOTY) On November 2, 2014, the Youth Bowler of the Year for 2013-14 were announced for both male and female. They were Danielle Lemoine and Austyn Ducharme. The winners of this award receive points throughout the entire bowling year in tournaments and also in league play. The athlete with the most points at the end of the year is deemed the “Youth Bowler of the Year”. In an on-going effort to support our athletes, we will be advising our athletes as to those tournaments that will contribute to the overall points total via the Bowling Manitoba website at www.bowlingmanitoba.ca . It is important to know that the ultimate responsibility of any accomplishment made on the lanes either within the province or outside the province, is that of the athlete. If you bowl in a tournament outside of Winnipeg, it is important that you get a hard copy of the results or advise of a website where they can be obtained, if you have any points that were accumulated. As mentioned above, you can also receive points during league play. This is done through your scores, or for the purpose of the “Youth Bowler of the Year”, they are called “record scores”. Points are awarded for the following record
scores in each division: If you are participating in any tournament
outside the province, please advise the board of the tournament and or website
so that we can track the results or inquire about the results. If you have any questions during the season about this award, please feel free to contact YBOTY@shaw.ca. Please monitor the progress of the award on the Bowling Manitoba website. November's Tournaments and information that count towards Youth Bowler of the Year: November kicks off the bowling tournament season for those athletes who are in pursuit of the Youth Bowler of the Year (YBOTY) there are four tournaments for the female athletes and three tournaments for the male athletes that you should be aware of.November 15 and 16 This is a busy weekend on the calendar. The MBA Youth Annual tournament will be held at Club Lav with four shifts being held each day. It is important to note that this recreational tournament encourages all athletes to participate and there are awards for handicap and scratch divisions. Awards will be given out at the end of the year for winners in each division. However, if you are in the hunt for the YBOTY you must enter the “scratch” division. Points will be awarded for the top five athletes by gender in each division: Bantam, Junior and Senior. Points will be awarded for “the top five finishes” in singles and all events. For those athletes who are unaware of what all events means, you must participate in singles, doubles and teams events, but they do not have to be on the same day. For the ladies only, the 600 Club tournament is also being held on the same weekend in the same venue. This tournament is for youth female athletes over the age of 15. Points will be awarded for the top five finishes. For example, if you are a youth athlete bowling in this tournament, and you finish third, you will received points for finishing third and not as the top junior athlete. On November 30, there will be another tournament that will have points awarded for the YBOTY. The Youth Open (there are 3 of them during the
season) is one of the newest tournaments on the schedule. This tournament is
also a handicap and scratch tournament and the goal of this tournament is to
give our athletes the opportunity to bowl five games instead of the standard
three games and in tougher conditions. The long-term goal of these three
tournaments is to prepare athletes in all divisions for the provincial
tournaments that will be held later in the bowling season. These tournaments are
strongly encouraged for any athlete who is wishing to compete for a position of
Team Manitoba for the Youth Bowling Canada national championships and the
Canadian Youth Championships being held in Winnipeg next year. Points for the YBOTY will be given out to the top five finishes in each division: Bantam, Junior and Senior, with the boys and girls being combined
