Catlin Crandall - His First
and Second
Career 300 games!

On Friday, March 9th, in the Greater Winnipeg Classic League, Catlin
Crandall had an awesome night, which included a new high 4-game series for the
league, and most importantly, his first career 300 game!
What makes this even more noteworthy is that the Classic League doesn't
use the standard Chateau "House Shot" oiling pattern. On this
night, the pattern was a longer, and more challenging pattern, named Route
66. Crandall made mincemeat of this pattern, shooting games of 257, 300,
215, and 278, for a series total of 1050! He had 39 strikes (out of a
possible 48). In his 4th game, he had the first 9 strikes, and most
everyone was thinking that he was going to get two perfectos on this
night. But unfortunately, the 10th shot came in a bit high.
And one more interesting note on this achievement: Crandall is
actually still officially a youth bowler, this being his last year of
eligibility. Adults....be afwaid, be vewy vewy afwaid.
BUT WAIT ! THERE'S MORE !! ...
On Sunday, March 18th, at the CTF Youth Provincials being held at Chateau
Lanes, Catlin did it again! In his 4th game of the day, he rolled another
300 game! After starting off with 3 mediocre (his word) games, and telling
people that he just wasn't "feeling it" because he was still
recovering from an illness this past week, he had a quick bite to eat before
starting his 4th game. Twelve strikes later, Crandall got his second
career perfect game! Once again, this was even more special because it was
not on the Chateau House Shot - the lane pattern was a more challenging one,
called Beaten Path. For the record, Crandall went on to win 1st place in
his Division, so he will be part of the youth team representing Manitoba at the
Canadian Youth Championships being held in Quebec later this year. This is
Crandall's last year of eligibility in the Youth Program, so it is certainly a
fitting way to end this part of his career.
I'm not sure if this is a first for a youth bowler, but it might be.
Crandall, while still officially a Youth bowler, achieved his 1st career perfect
game in an adult league, and then got his 2nd one, while bowling in a Youth
tournament. Most of us would expect that this would happen in the opposite
order. <grin>.
Congratulations Catlin !!!
